Happy New Year!
As we start 2012, I hope everybody had a good Christmas and a nice relaxing break.
We had a very good month at school in December. Usually we measure a good December by the quality of the community events celebrating Christmas. Whilst all of the productions, events and concerts were of a high standard, we also celebrated increased attendance and improved behaviour in our final assembly.
We work very hard with both of these aspects of school. It was a pleasure to award 53 children with a 100% attendance last term which is a double the number of children who managed this feat in Autumn 2010.
In addition, our attendance in Autumn 2010 was 92.3% and we have managed to improve this over the whole year of 2011 to 94.7%.
We work very hard at supporting families whose attendance dips, we challenge term time holidays over ten days and we encourage all children to be on time. Anybody who arrives after 9am is automatically not present at registration and therefore absent.
Behaviour is measured by the number of children who have been ‘green’ and by the number of challenging incidents which occur on the playground or around school. December was a fantastic month as was November. Let’s hope January is equally as positive.
Thank you for your support, particularly your efforts to be on time at the beginning of the day.
So we start the year with encouraging trends of attendance and behaviour and this platform helps us to engage in exciting and challenging learning opportunities.
We would like to think that there is a direct link between attendance, behaviour and positive learning experiences. At the heart of school are warm and open relationships between children and adults.
Long may this continue!
Happy New Year
