Welcome

Welcome to John Clifford School!

I would like to welcome anybody who is new to the area or the country, or  who has joined us this September. We hope that you all enjoy being a member of the John Clifford school community.

If you are a visitor, please note that many of our important documents are specifically located in the menu. Please visit the governors' page also as they have a number of meetings and visits which support and challenge the school appropriately.

It's my tenth year at John Clifford as head teacher and my priority as ever is to hold our ethos, vision, aims and values central to all that we do to ensure that children are safe, happy and can learn in a positive and inclusive environment.  We are proud to serve the community of Beeston and we will do everything we can to help our children develop a sense of identity, responsibility and belonging.

We are delighted with our current OFSTED report but never take anything for granted and work hard to develop our achievements and results. We also make every attempt to improve our school facilities and site and spend our money wisely in all areas of a child’s development. ‘Together we will be successful’ is a new aspect of our vision that builds on ‘Be your best, celebrate success.’

At the heart of the school is the individual and the individual is the heart of the school. It is an extremely inclusive school with diversity a strong feature of our context. 52% of our families belong to an ethnic minority and many children learn English as an additional language.

John Clifford children enjoy school and are encouraged to set the highest possible standards of behaviour via 'John Clifford Promises' the 'Good to be Green' system and our houses based on beehives.

We have a dedicated, talented and ambitious staff and are lucky to have appointed such positive adults who have been with us for several years and who have created the stability which is currently visible. They are approachable, hard- working and generous with their time. We have no stars in the team - the team is the star!

The John Clifford Curriculum is very much ours! We have designed all of the projects that children study fresh for this year. We have six projects per class each year. Our curriculum offers every child an opportunity to celebrate their unique, individual learning style. Visits and an emphasis on the international community we serve and also Science, Technology and Engineering are visible throughout the curriculum.

We appreciate the support we receive from parents and work well in partnership with governors and members of the local community. We welcome any feedback. Please let us know your views, what we can improve and do better at.

Any parent who would like to talk to me or the staff are always very welcome. My email address is: head@johnclifford.notts.sch.uk

Best wishes,
Simon Thompson
