Maths

Week beginning 18th May - Fractions

We are now going back to fractions.  You've all made great progress on this in Y6, but it is important that you keep practising to keep those skills sharp.

The work is on the White Rose Maths Home Learning resource, which has a video and worksheet for each day (just check you are on Summer Term Wk 4 (4.5.20) - we are working two weeks behind their schedule).  Don't worry if you can't print out the worksheet or solve every single problem - the most important thing is that you have a go.  The White Rose website is here:

https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-6/

Any problems or comments, please do post them on the blog.

Week beginning 11th May - Angles inside shapes

This week's work builds on last week's, using knowledge of angles to find angles within shapes.

As last week, we are using the White Rose Maths Home Learning resource, which has a video and worksheet for each day (just check you are on Summer Term Wk 2 (27.4.20) - we are working two weeks behind their schedule).  Don't worry if you can't print out the worksheet or solve every single problem - the most important thing is that you have a go.  The White Rose website is here:

https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-6/

Any problems or comments, please do post them on the blog.

Week beginning 4th May - Angles

This week's work builds on last week's, using knowledge of angles to find angles in a triangle.

As last week, we are using the White Rose Maths Home Learning resource, which has a video and worksheet for each day (just check you are on Week 3 - we are working two weeks behind their schedule).  Don't worry if you can't print out the worksheet or solve every single problem - the most important thing is that you have a go.  The White Rose website is here:

https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-6/

Any problems or comments, please do post them on the blog.

Week beginning 27th April - ratio and proportion problems/ calculating angles

This week's work builds on last week's, using ratio and proportion knowledge to solve problems.  On Thursday and Friday it move on to angles - you won't need a protractor for this, but if you find it confusing, there is a very straightforward video under this text about missing angles on a straight line.

As last week, we are using the White Rose Maths Home Learning resource, which has a video and worksheet for each day (just check you are on Week 2 - we are working two weeks behind their schedule).  Don't worry if you can't print out the worksheet or solve every single problem - the most important thing is that you have a go.  The White Rose website is here:

Any problems or comments, please do post them on the blog.

How to find a missing angle on a straight line

Week beginning 20th April  - Ratio

We will be looking at ratio using the White Rose home learning resources.  This is a renowned Maths site (we use White Rose resources as part of our planning in school); if you follow this link https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-6/, you should be able to see a screen like this:

There are five lessons for each week, so you can do one a day or several at once if you prefer.  Each lesson has a video explanation, a a two page activity sheet, and the answers.

Don't worry if you can't print out the activity sheet, just have a go at as many questions as you can.  The most important thing is that you watch the video and begin to understand the concepts being explained.

[Note: you need to start at Week 1 for the Year 6 ratio work, NOT the work labelled 20.4.20 on the White Rose site. ]

Please do contact us via the blog to let us know how you are getting on with this - you are also welcome to post any work you have completed; we would love to see it!
