John Clifford Primary & Nursery School ‘Be your best. Celebrate success. Together we will be successful.’

Miss McDonnell's Group

Revisit and Review:

Yesterday we looked at loud and quiet sounds. I would like you to think of something which makes a loud sound - write it down or draw a picture. Now I would like you to think of something which makes a quiet sound - again write it down or draw a picture. Talk to someone at home about other things which are quiet and loud. These could be things around your home.

Teach and Practice:

Today I am going to share a story with you. The story I have chosen is 'Peace at Last' by Jill Murphy. I have chosen this book as there is lots of different sounds for us to listen out for. Listen carefully to see how many sounds you spot. You can listen to me reading this story below. Once you have listened to me reading the story I would like you to talk to someone at home about all the different sounds which you heard. Try making some of these sounds yourself.

Miss McDonnell sharing a story

Listen out for the different sounds which can be heard in this noisy story.

Apply:

Now that you have listened to me reading the story and practiced some of these sounds I would like you to share a story with your grown ups. I want you to choose a story which has lots of different sounds for you to make. If you haven't got a noisy story at home don't worry as I have popped a link below to 'Peace at Last'.
