SCHOOLS GAMES COMPETITION

The School Games Active Championships is a national activity campaign to help young people across the UK to #StayInWorkOut using the video-based platform powered by TopYa!. New challenges will be available every Monday, Wednesday and Friday to engage with.

Children practise the challenges, then submit their best video using a mobile device to receive personal coaching feedback from the TopYa! team of experienced virtual coaches. Points are earned for each video submitted, leading to climbing leaderboards and winning prizes!

The TopYa! Active app is committed to online safety and meets rigorous COPPA and GDPR safeguarding standards. No one can communicate within the app. All children can do to communicate with one another is give each other a virtual ‘high-five’, which functions like a social media ‘like’.

Video content is suitable for young people of all ages and abilities, with regular submissions from National Governing Bodies of Sport.

Other things you can do:

Joe Wicks the body coach is running PE lesson at 9am each weekday morning - why not get involved?

You can find him at The Body Coach TV on YouTube or at the following link:

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAxW1XT0iEJo0TYlRfn6rYQ

If you fancy a change from PE with Joe, another option is Go Noodle - there are lots of fun and active dance/movement videos to follow along with, but also some more calming mindfulness videos to help if you are feeling a bit worried or anxious.

Can you persuade your grown ups to join in with some of the silly dance moves??

Move and Learn

We have also attached some of the homework from Sham and Claire who have been working with you as a part of your move and learn sessions on a Friday afternoon. See below for this weeks activity:

Week 3

Drinking enough is just as important as eating healthy and balanced foods - water or sugar free squash are better for your body and teeth than fruit juices or fizzy pop. Track how much you drink in a week, along with what types of drinks you have. Next week, can you see if you can get yourself more hydrated by drinking an extra cup of water, or swapping a fizzy drink for squash?
