John Clifford Primary & Nursery School ‘Be your best. Celebrate success. Together we will be successful.’

What does a church building look like and why are they special?

As this is your final lesson on ‘Places of Worship’ we want to bring together your understanding of what a church looks like and why they are special to Christians.

1. What is a church?

2. What features are outside a church building?

3. What features are inside a church building?

4. What happens in a church for Christians?

You might need to look at the powerpoint below to remind yourself of the answers and have a go at the quiz.

To draw/paint/collage a design for a stained-glass window showing some of the features of a church inside or out and showing what goes on in a church.

Use this design to show off what you know about churches and why they are special. For example, you might include pictures of an altar, statue, cross, candle, font, graveyard and Yew tree, as well as showing praying, singing, baptism and weddings.

Get creative!
