Please listen to the first part of ‘This Morning I Met A Whale’ by Michael Morpurgo up to page 34 (click on link below) and write answers to the following questions, giving reasons with reference to the text where possible.

WALT: To use inference and deduction to answer thought provoking questions.

How would you feel if you suddenly saw a whale swimming in a river in the heart of a big city?

Would you believe it was true?

Is the whale in danger?

Would you want to find out more about the whale and how it came to be there?

Why do you think the whale has come down the river?

Why is he looking for a child to tell his story to, rather than an adult?

Why did his grandfather send him?

What do you think he wants Michael to do for him?

What do you think will happen next?

Reading Reviews

As a first task we asked you to review a book that you had read recently. We would like you to make a this a regular feature of your time at home, so we will leave this section live on the website, with the links to the two types of book review. Please have a look and either print one out and use that or, alternatively, create your own version!

It would also count if you had listened to an audiobook (see link below). If you do, please review this, and add a section about whether you thought the narrator's voice was well used, expressive and if it matched the story in your opinion!

Attached below are some examples of what a book review could look like.

Each time you read a book, try and review it for us, so we know if it's worth reading!
